Don Meyer - Position #4

Don Meyer is the former executive director of the Foss Waterway Development Authority. Meyer currently serves as president of the Washington Public Ports Association and the Executive Committee. He also serves on the Regional Access Mobility Partnership (RAMP), South King County Transportation Board, University of Washington Tacoma’s Urban Studies Advisory Board and Tacoma Waterfront Association (Portoftacoma.com).

Dick Marzano - Position #2

Dick Marzano is a Tacoma native and long-term Pierce County resident. Marzano worked as a Tacoma longshore worker for more than 52 years and served a six-year term as president of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 23. During his time as port commissioner, Marzano has remained focused on job creation and growing port operations in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner (Portoftacoma.com).

John McCarthy - Position #1

John McCarthy has been elected to three terms as a Port of Tacoma Commissioner, from 1983-1989, 1989-1992, and currently, 2018-2021, for a total of 13 years. In 2020, McCarthy held the office of president of the Port of Tacoma Commission and co-chair of The Northwest Seaport Alliance. He is a former president of the Washington Public Ports Association and an honorary life member (Portoftacoma.com).

Joe Bushnell - District #5 - City of tacoma

Joe was born and raised in Tacoma. His mother immigrated from Cambodia and his father is a lifelong Tacoma resident. Joe graduated from Stadium High School before receiving his degree from The Evergreen State College. If elected, Joe will be the first Cambodian-American to serve on the Tacoma City Council. Bushnell is a US Marine Corps Combat Veteran, Tacoma Public Utilities Board Member, and currently works advocating for small businesses in food service and hospitality. His past experience also includes serving as Board Chair of the South Tacoma Neighborhood Council, membership on the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department Food Advisory Board, the Travel Tacoma Mt Rainier Board of Directors, and as a volunteer with Toys for Tots.

Brett Johnson - District #6 - City of Tacoma

Brett is a Tacoma native who was born at St. Joseph hospital and graduated from Stadium High School. After completing his Merchant Mariner contract Brett enlisted in the United States Air Force where he became a journeyman air traffic controller and earned a degree in Airway Science & Air Traffic Management.  Brett then used those credentials to become a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controller and National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) member. Always on the hunt for bigger challenges, Brett then accepted a position as civilian air traffic controller for NATO at Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan. In addition to being a business owner, Brett is currently a member of the Sound Transit Citizen Oversight Panel.

Dennis King - District #2, Pos. 2 - City of Puyallup

Dennis is a community leader who has lived in Puyallup for over 35 years. He and his wife were married at Pioneer Park, and decided to raise their 2 children here. Dennis King understands what it takes to own a small business, and has continually focused on giving back to the community that has supported his own family. Dennis and Melinda King have owned and operated Skate Tiffany’s & KING Family Fun Center in Downtown Puyallup since 2007, creating jobs and investing in good times and lifelong memories for countless local families. He currently serves on the Puyallup Civil Service Commission.

Janelle Cass - Position #2 - City of Edmonds

Janelle is a mother, wife, veteran, and Edmonds small business owner with a degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy. After the Air Force, she worked for twelve years in the Federal Aviation Administration performing environmental impact analysis and community outreach for aviation construction and aerospace projects. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. In her free time, Janelle enjoys sailing and fishing in beautiful Edmonds and remains connected to her Polynesian heritage by dancing with a local Hula Hālau.

amy evans - position #3 - port of olympia

Amy started her career as a real estate lawyer, then owned a small retail boutique in West Olympia, and now works as a Commercial Real Estate Broker assisting businesses and non-profits in leasing, purchasing, and selling warehouses and office buildings. She has participated in the year-long Homeless (renamed One Community) workgroup stewarded by the City of Olympia in addition to other local committees, and has regularly given written and verbal public comment on policymaking.

Dana ralph - mayor of kent

Dana promised promised to be a hands-on leader with a strong vision for Kent. She has delivered by showing up and fighting for citizens every single day.  Her track record demonstrates dedication to strengthening Kent’s economy and improving quality of life. As mayor, she has made historic investments in infrastructure, housing and transit options, parks and youth programs as well as human services. She works tenaciously to increase communication and transparency from city hall, and intends to continue in these efforts. Mayor Ralph has committed to continue prioritizing public safety, reducing crime, cleaning up Kent’s public spaces, and serving with compassion.

Kirk hardtke - Position #1 - City of Sumner

Kirk is a third generation Sumnerite and the proud father of the 4th generation of Sumner Hardtkes. He and his wife are Gordon Family YMCA charter members and know that it takes community collaboration to achieve the best things that Sumner has to offer. Their two kids, one with autism, love to swim and utilize adaptive programs. Kirk knows that many things can’t be taken for granted, and that concerned citizens must advocate not just for themselves, but for all families. Kirk endeavors to safely lead Sumner back to normalcy for the community and improve the quality of life for all Sumner residents.

David Olson - Peninsula school board

David Olson has served on the Peninsula School Board since 2013 - five years as Vice President and is the current President. David has worked tirelessly to support the students of the district, making certain all decisions were in their best interest. Over the past eight years, David and the Board worked to regain community  trust.  Their success was evidenced by the voter's overwhelmingly passing the M&O Levy in 2017 and the Capital Bond in 2019.  As a result, four new elementary schools will open in 2021 and two of the oldest middle schools will be fully modernized over the next two years.  

Stephanie bowman - position #3 - port of Seattle

With stiff maritime competition from California and Canada, the port must continue to follow forward-thinking policies to remain competitive. Commissioner Bowman has led the effort to combine the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma maritime operations, ending decades of unhealthy competition and resulting in increased trade and jobs in the state, and spearheaded numerous efforts to expand environmental initiatives at Sea-Tac International Airport to reduce the carbon footprint of airport operations. She was instrumental in getting the Port to provide land to establish a Tiny House Village at Interbay.
